Danielle | 2020 Hudsonville Senior

This was one of my favorites for Danielle’s senior photoshoot! I love the color combination and although it has a very boho vibe it was chic enough to be worn in the city.

These next couple of looks were absolutely PERFECT for Danielle! She chose looks that really bring out her personality and are a little more on the edgy side. The pairing with the leather jacket makes the outfit in that last shot. Speaking of the last shot in this series, fun fact….it was taken inside of a parking garage! What can I say? The lighting was perfect and I go where the lighting takes me 🙂

This time of year is perfect for FLOWER fields!! As a side note, a lot of people think this gorgeous weed (yes, weed!) is Ragweed but it’s actually Goldenrod. Goldenrod is known for its plentiful flowering in late summer and a personal favorite of mine. However, make note of the fact that goldenrod often grows in the same area as ragweed, which SO many people are allergic too! If you’re highly allergic to pollinating weeds like ragweed, taking your allergy medicine before your senior shoot would be a wise idea. You definitely wouldn’t want to start sneezing and having your eyes watering during your photoshoot, hello running mascara!!

One of my favorite times in any photoshoot is when the sun is beginning to get low in the sky and we get this gorgeous golden light cast on the subject’s fact and beautifully backlit light around the hair. Golden hour is amazing but hey, it’s not everything! Check out some images from my “Ugly Location Challenge” with an indoor session on a gloomy day in March HERE.

Can I just point out how amazing West Michigan is? I know we have some bad weather and it can get really tiresome as the long months of winter linger on seemingly forever at times….but hey, then we also have this. Just a short 5 minute drive from downtown, and you have this! The flowing Grand River that you can literally just walk right out into, is so peaceful and tranquil…it’s hard to believe there’s a bustling city just a few minutes away!

What’s on your bucket list of things to do or see?

Travel to the Bahamas to swim with the pigs, travel to Paris, live by the ocean, and be Tik Tok famous 🙂

Fun facts about you!

I’ve played soccer most of my life, I’m a great cook, and I’m really good at Crane machines!!

Tell me 2 truths and 1 lie:

I’m 6 ft. tall, dogs are my favorite animal, and I love Winter.

What kind of look were you going for in your senior photos?

I was going for an edgy look.

How was your experience during your senior shoot?

Wonderful, it was so much fun going out and taking pictures for like half the day!!!

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to anyone getting their senior photos taken?

Relax and be yourself, it’s not as scary as you think!

How many outfits did you bring to your photoshoot?

Would you have taken more or less, reasons why?

Nope! It was a perfect amount, I had many choices going through my final pictures and all my pictures look unique!

Did you accessorize differently with each outfit?

Yes, most of the time it was an earring changes or necklace changes.

Any tips on how to prepare for the session or must have things to bring?

A zip up or button up for getting hair and makeup done, also a cute hat is a must!

Any tips on hair/makeup? Where did you get your inspiration for this? Did you bring in pictures or have a plan prior to your styling?

Not really, I just wanted a more natural look, so i looked like my everyday self.

Did you find a store that had everything you were looking for?

I did a lot of online shopping at Zaful, and Target for most of my accessories.

What ended up being your favorite outfit and why?

I loved my plaid pants and my black leather jacket, it looked really good and I was able to move freely unlike a skirt or dress.

Is there anything you would have done differently for your shoot?

Brought a strapless bra…

What was your favorite thing about your session or the overall experience? How easy it was to take pictures with Michelle. We laughed the entire time!

Why do you think senior portraits are important?

To look back and remember who you were and to bring back memories as you get older.

Why did you choose Michelle Cuppy to take your senior pictures?

My friend always talked about MCP when she was on the MCP Team ‘19 Model Team, so I decided to give it a try. Turns out it was everything she said and more! Michelle is the sweetest lady and makes taking pictures super easy, whether it’s helping accessorize or finding the right pose.
